Naxos is considered as an island for families. Let us tell you why!
First of all, as it can be easily reached, either by a 40-minute flight from Athens -as well as by boat in 5 hours- or by fast ferries that connect it to the main islands, such as Mykonos, Paros or Santorini.
The beaches in Naxos are quiet, like that of Agios Giorgios, Chora’s Beach, which will be perfect for the children, as the sea is peaceful while beach kiosks provide sunbeds and umbrellas to guarantee a practical stay. Other then Chora’s, Prokopios or Agia Anna beaches are easy to reach by bus or car. You’ll enjoy golden sand and crystal clear water that drops very gradually… but also taverns and bars serving sandwiches and typical Greek dishes! Plaka is a long and bright beach where the see reverberates the most spectacular turquoise tones. In fact, from Prokopio to Agiassos, it’s a good 50 km of sand, sea, sunny days and peace, where one can choose both free and equipped areas to enjoy some relax with kids and family. Here is the reason why what we offer, is mostly accommodations in Naxos. A choice we made as the majority of them count family rooms or are composed of 1 or 2 bedrooms. Perfect solutions for large as well as small families.
Being based in Naxos, one day trips to other islands will also be at hand. Koufonissi, Iraklia as an example, are small yet spectacular islands known for their clear sea and sandy beaches. Renting a car will make it easy to reach the more internal villages as well: Filoti, Chalki and Apirantos, and, why not, enjoy a traditional supper under the stars. Otherwise you might go to wait for the sunset in Portara, and watch the sun slowly vanish behind Paros Island just before having a perfect evening: just wander around in the streets of Chora and choose a nice restaurant or a tavern.
All of the above is why we believe Naxos is a great choice for a family holiday. A place where it is easy to choose how to spend your day, lingering on the beach, diving in the sea, exploring villages, enjoying traditional shops and restaurants… and at an affordable price!
