Paros, the younger sister of Naxos, famous for its white beaches, some ideal destinations for lovers of windsurfing and kitesurfing. Island equally famous for the beauty of Parikia, its capital, and for Naoussa, the second main city of the island, which over the years has become famous for its trendy shops and restaurants.
Parikia is the capital of Paros and has a magnificent historic center, characterized by the presence of the Church of the Madonna di Katapoliani, knows also as “Our Lady of 100 doors”. This beautiful church with its ancient Baptistery is worth a visit. In the historic center there are restaurants, taverns, shops while the promenade will welcome you with its bars and taverns.
Parikia is perfect for a quiet holiday with all the comforts. Also, near Parikia you can spend a day at Martselo Beach, which can be reached by boat from the bay of Parikia. Livadia is the beach of Parikia, perfect for drinking a cocktail while waiting for the sunset!
To the north of Paros, however, you can stay in Naoussa, the younger sister of Mykonos, and its center is a labyrinth of alleys lined with shops, bars, restaurants and clubs. Let yourself be carried away by its beauty and charm! On August 29, the feast for the Monastery of San Giovanni is celebrated, near the beautiful beach of Monastiri, a few kilometers from Naoussa. If you are staying in Naoussa you can relax in Piperi Beach, famous for snorkeling, where there are several taverns where you can enjoy fresh fish by the sea! Near Noussa you can visit the most famous beach of Paros, Kolimbrites, considered one of the most beautiful in all of Greece, due to the famous granite blocks that line it, smoothed by the sea and the wind over the years.
If you want to stay in a small town, then we recommend the village of Aliki, a fishing village in the south of the island, where the Fish Festival takes place in August!
To the west coast of Paros, in front of Naxos, you can stay in Piso Livadi, a small fishing village about 17 km from Parikia, today a favorite destination for those looking for a more peaceful holiday, where to relax in the beautiful Golden Beach, one of the most famous throughout the Mediterranean for windsurfing. Equally famous is Pounda Beach, exactly in front of Naxos, about 30 minutes from Parikia, the favorite place for parties that go on until late at night in the clubs overlooking the beach, where there are several windsurfing and kitesurfing centers. Chrissi Akti Beach and Nea Chrissi Akti Beach are equally famous for practicing these sports, even at a competitive level!
Finally, the beautiful island of Antiparos is worth a visit, reachable in a few minutes by boat from the port of Parikia. If, on the other hand, you want to reach the island with your car or your scooter, then you can leave from the small port of Pounta, about 8 km from Parikia, exactly in front of Antiparos.
We suggest you a trip to Antiparos Cave, also called Cave of Agios Ioannis, which is the only vertical cave in Europe with a depth of 85 meters. You will go down for about 300 steps between stalactites and stalagmites, finding yourself in a real natural museum and you will be able to admire the oldest stalactite in Europe which seems to be 45 million years old! Even in Antiparos there are beautiful beaches and you will be struck by the color of the blue and transparent sea and by the atmosphere that is still a little old, typical of the Greek islands. Chora will welcome you upon your arrival at the port with small narrow streets of restaurants and shops. We suggest you to see the Venetian Castle, located in the center of Chora, built in 1440 by Giovanni Loredano who married Maria Sommaripa of Antiparos. If you love music and art, you can attend to the concerts and cultural events that are often organized during the summer.
